The After Eight's meet on the second Tuesday of each month (except August).
It was formed in 1979, the aim being to promote friendship among the ladies in our Church and provide an outreach into the community. Now in our 38th year, we continue to meet on the second Tuesday of the month.
The enthusiasm and friendliness are as warm and welcoming as ever.
We start at 8pm with refreshments and an opportunity to chat before the main activity, usually a speaker or demonstration and, occasionally, an 'At Home' evening with quizzes and a Bring and Buy Sale for charity.
Over the past year we welcomed speakers on a variety of subjects including 'British Singers of the 50s' A Late Flowering Lyricist' 'Medical Detection Dogs' and 'Crime to Success'.
We had a Summer coach outing to Bury St Edmunds in July.
Our stall at the URC Christmas Bazaar was well supported.
All this has happened with the support of a wonderful team effort – everyone appreciates what they do, none more so than myself – my thanks to each one of them - which makes the After Eights a special meeting.
|In general we organise two local theatre visits and one whole day outing during the year.|
Our meetings are friendly and welcoming to all and many speakers comment on the happy atmostphere. We want you to go home feeling better for having enjoyed our company - we invite you to join us!
